Scholarship Award

2012 SPPA Educational Scholarship

Sunbelt Promotional Products Association awards one scholarship annually to a distributor or supplier member of SPPA.  The scholarship award carries a $1000 maximum stipend to be awarded to the recipient as a reimbursement for MAS/CAS approved educational workshops.  The funds may also be used to offset the cost of travel expenses to attend approved courses.  SPPA will reimburse the scholarship recipient a maximum of $1000.00 provided the applicant can furnish evidence of attendance at approved courses and evidence of travel costs incurred to attend the educational session.  In addition, SPPA requires that the recipient serve on the scholarship committee the following year as a blind reviewer of applications.  The scholarship is available to all current 2012 SPPA Active members who attend at least one SPPA show or event per year or who is active on a committee within the association.  Additional requirements:

• Applicants must have been active in the promotional products industry for a minimum of two years.
• An applicant can only be awarded a scholarship once every three years.
• Current Board members are not eligible.
• Applicants may nominate themselves for this award

The application must be submitted to the Board of Directors prior to the Winter Trade Show. 

The scholarship recipient is chosen by a committee of five.  The committee consists of the current President, two Past Presidents and two SPPA members.  All applications will have names removed.  The committee will select the winner through a blind review process.

Please note, the scholarship must be used in two years or it becomes invalid. The Scholarship is non-transferable.  The scholarship winner may attend any one of the educational seminars presented by the Promotional Products Association International (PPAI).  Expenses that qualify for reimbursement include tuition, housing, meals, and round-trip travel expenses.  These arrangements are the sole responsibility of and must be made by the scholarship winner. The scholarship winner should submit copies of all receipts no later than 30 days after attending the class in order to receive reimbursement.

SPPA is not currently accepting applications for the 2012 scholarship.  We will begin accepting applications in November 2011.
